Pilates works on lengthening and strengthening the postural and core muscles of the entire body. You are often focusing so hard on the exercise at hand and your controlled breathing that this form of exercise makes you switch your everyday mind off and focus completely on the task at hand; this results in Pilates becoming a great way to de-stress the mind as well as aligning the postural muscles of the body.
Sometimes it isn’t financially possible to have 1-2-1 personal training sessions with an instructor, so classes or home dvd’s are always a great option:
Classes – If you choose the class option then make sure that the instructor is fully qualified; class instructors will be more than happy to show you their qualifications to you because it would have taken them alot of time and effort to achieve them. If you are not sure what qualifications to look for then check out the register of exercise proffessionals(REPs) website, it will be able help you with all the info that you need.
Home dvds – There are some great dvds out there and some really top end personal trainers teaching on them. I highly recommend anything by Jillian Michaels, 10 minute solutions dvds and especially Karen Voight(see below).
Faye believes each body requires a minimum input of a particular essential fitness ingredient, be it: a cleaner diet, clearer mindset, better scheduled training sessions, more relaxation, some functional training or just a general lifestyle tweak or two.
