Do you want to feel more balanced in your life? Always wanted to try meditation, but don’t know how? Read on …
A simple 7 minute morning meditation:
1- On waking, make yourself a warm cup of honey & lemon or green tea(alot better than coffee!). Set the clock countdown on your phone to 7 mins and press start.
2- Sit comfortably. Now just focus on listening to your breath. How do you breath? Shallow, quick, with tension? Slow your breathing and think about breathing into the base of your spine.
3- Double the length of your breath. Breathing in & out through the nose if you can, but don’t worry if you can’t. Just breath smoothly!
4- Let the mind settle. Now just picture how you want your day to go. DO NOT think about how you don’t want it to go! Stay positive. What do you want from your day? Visualise it.
5- You will get distracted. When you notice your thoughts wondering, don’t worry, just bring them back into focus. Training the mind to stay focused is like training the body; you need to be consistent.
6- You may find that you can only focus for 20 secs, this is fine. Just keep training the mind to focus on what you want it to think about. Eventually the time will expand to 30 secs, 1 min, 5 mins, 7 mins.
7- When the 7 minutes is up. Don’t just spring up, take 20 secs or so to notice how relaxed and clear minded you feel. Then realise that you can return to this feeling anytime throughout the day as and when you choose to.
Note: if you notice any strong colours appearing within your mind whilst meditating, then take a look at the picture and article below.
Root Chakra – Red
The first of the seven energy centers. The main color of this chakra is red which is also the most dense color of all of them.
Red pulls the retina forward so all of our energy and attention is focused outward.
That’s why we use red color for the stop lights and stop signs. The root chakra color commands attention. It signals danger to us. Making us very responsive.
Red is the color of the life force and blood, its the first color we come into contact when we enter the world.
Red means energy and our connection with the Earth and carries the promise of survival.
Sacral Chakra – Orange
Orange is the color of your second chakra, which is located bellow the navel. The main energy of this color is creativity and feelings.
Just as the sacral chakra is located in the pelvic area, orange is the area of our gut feelings, wisdom and emotions.
Buddhists call this the “hara” – the centre of being through which we connect with the voice of the self.
This is where we find bliss.
Orange energy is very sensual. Living a life guided by orange color transforms even the most mundane daily experiences into pleasurable experiences.
Solar Plexus Chakra – Yellow
Yellow is the colour of the solar plexus chakra. The centre of our being – the color of sunshine and the color of the third energy centre. The main energy of yellow is intellect.
Yellow is the color of sunshine and it is the core of your being. Where you feel the strength, will and personal power.
The energy of yellow is vibrant & optimistic. It is the color of youth, beginnings, birth & re-birth.
Yellow connects you with knowledge and your intellect. People who are drawn to yellow are drawn to intellectual pursuits.
As you energise the solar plexus chakra, you find an energy that burns within you – this gives you power and strong sense of self. You find inner worth and trust through the healing power of the solar plexus chakra.
Heart Chakra – Green
Green is the colour of the heart chakra. It is the color of healing, balance, tranquility and serenity. Green brings wholeness to our lives and it is the color most frequently found in nature.

Opening your heart Chakra helps you to become more compassionate -towards yourself and others. You will also begin to sense the interconnectedness of all of life.
Throat Chakra – Blue
Blue is the colour of the throat chakra. It is 1 of the three primary colors. The main energy of blue is communication and it is the color used to soothe the soul.

That is the power of throat chakra color.
Blue is also at the cooler end of the spectrum, where things slow down, allowing you to take time to be still.
And to listen to your own voice. To listen to the stillness within and to express what needs to be expressed.
In Buddhist philosophy, blue is the color of pure mind – the mind that is uncluttered by thought.
Blue energy is a guiding energy, enabling you to find a sense of faith and trust.
Red, orange, yellow, and green guide your attention towards movement, activity, relationships, and things that can be observed on a material plane.
Blue moves your attention to the subtle vibrations that move through all of life.
Third Eye Chakra – Indigo
The third eye chakra is the colour of Indigo – your third eye chakra. It is the color that opens the consciousness and brings awareness to higher planes and connects us with the spiritual world.
Indigo opens the door to the Divine and it is the color that we associate with night.
It is at night, when our senses become finer and a different part of us awakens.
Indigo brings clarity to the sense organs – sight, sound and touch.
Indigo is a bridge between heaven and earth, between the left and right hemispheres and also between life and death.
Indigo helps to make a transition towards life or towards death.
Indigo color energy is an energy of deep change. It allows you to transform the energies of lower chakras into higher spiritual vibrations. You must be cautious though, because you can become ungrounded and disconnected with the life on earth and with your family and friends.
Opening and energising the Third eye Chakra will help you to see where you have been stuck in your life and where you are going now.
You begin to experience those “Aha” moments.
You begin to see that you can consciously create your life. And that your vision for the future is a creative act of will.
Crown Chakra – Violet
The colour of the crown Chakra is Violet. It is a unifying color, the color of oneness and spirituality. The energy of this color is very healing and can soothe away pain.
